Zirconia Dispersions
PixClear® Zirconia uniform dispersions deliver refractive indices of 1.60-1.77, with >95% transparency, low haze, and no aggregations.
PixClear® Zirconia Designer Compounds®
PixClear® Zirconia dispersions are composed of up to 10 nm capped, high-refractive-index (RI) nanocrystals that enable customers to significantly enhance their formulations’ optical performance and mechanical properties. These products are available in Pixelligent formulations (PixJet®, PixNIL®) and as stand-alone dispersions optimized for Extended Reality, Next-Gen Display, Optics, OLED Lighting, and Sensor applications. PixClear® Zirconia products enable a refractive index range of up to 1.77, with transparencies over 95% and haze below 0.1%.
Enabling Next-Generation Optoelectronic Applications
Pixelligent’s PixClear® Zirconia nanocrystal dispersions expand the field-of-view (FoV) in extended reality devices, boost light output in OLED and MicroLED displays, deliver sharper images in optical sensors, and enable high-performance 3D-printed optics.
Advantages of PixClear® Zirconia
PixClear® monodispersed, aggregate-free zirconium dioxide dispersions feature uniform particle size, narrow size distribution, and tunable nanocrystal loading—enabling high refractive indices, exceptional transparency, and low haze. The uniform particle size and shape of up to 10 nm capped nanocrystals with a narrow size distribution provide broad compatibility with a wide range of solvents and monomers.

A 10 nm capped ZrO₂ nanocrystal dispersed in PGMEA (propylene glycol methyl ether acetate) solvent, capable of incorporating either functional or non-functional groups. These nanoparticles are engineered for maximum compatibility with a wide range of polar solvents and monomers, including acrylate, siloxane, and epoxy.
Depending on the capping agents, these dispersions can have:
- Balanced surface coverage that provides both improved formulation stability and dispersibility without sacrificing RI.
- Medium surface coverage of capping materials that provide improved dispersibility and high refractive index.
- Highest surface coverage of capping materials and functionality that enables high crosslinking density and provides improved chemical resistance.
- Lower surface coverage of capping materials that provide higher refractive indices.
- High surface coverage of capping materials provides improved compatibility and stability to chemical reactivity.
Custom formulations are available upon request.
